In the middle of the extensive plains of Majorca, declining towards south-west, between the villages of Algaida and Llucmajor, stands the Randa mountain. Its height rises to 548 metres above the sea and it dominates 36 villages on the Island The sea can be seen all around except towards the north, which is dominated by the mountains.

Due to its exceptional situation with respect to the plain 'Bendición de los Frutos' the 'bessing of the fruit' has taken place on its peak for centuries, on the fourth Sunday after Easter.

Modern life also takes advantage of its situation as an excellent point for telecommunications and observation point for watching out for fires.

Doctors in the past found out that the climate of the mountain was good for patients with respiratory disorders and for curing rheumatism. And indeed, this is true, in spite of the wind and mist, which are anything but rare at those heights.
